Commercial video surveillance, done right the first time

ATEL Technologies, Inc. is a licensed low voltage contractor in Miramar, San Diego that designs and installs commercial security camera systems. ATEL installs high-resolution IP cameras - bullet, dome, turret, PTZ, panoramic and covert - with recording on an on-site NVR, in the cloud, or both. Because ATEL also installs the cabling and network the cameras run on, every system is planned end to end, viewable from iOS, Android or a browser, and supported by one local team.

Security cameras we install

The right camera depends on what you need to see, how far away it is and the lighting. We match each location to the camera that fits it - not one model everywhere.

Bullet cameras

Long, visible cameras with a strong deterrent effect and long-range view.

Best for: parking lots, perimeters, building exteriors

Dome cameras

Compact, vandal-resistant cameras that blend into ceilings and hide where they're pointed.

Best for: lobbies, hallways, retail floors

Turret cameras

Ball-style cameras with strong night vision and no dome glare.

Best for: entrances, loading docks, low-light areas

PTZ cameras

Pan-tilt-zoom cameras that cover large areas and zoom in on detail, manually or on a patrol schedule.

Best for: yards, lots, warehouses, campuses

Fisheye & panoramic

One camera covering a full 180° or 360° view with no blind spots.

Best for: open offices, intersections, large rooms

Covert cameras

Discreet cameras for sensitive areas where a visible camera isn't practical.

Best for: cash rooms, stockrooms, high-theft areas

Cloud vs. on-premise video surveillance

Where your footage is recorded matters as much as which cameras you choose. We install all three options and recommend the one that fits your sites, bandwidth and budget.

Cloud Video

Cloud video surveillance with nothing to maintain

With cloud video there is no server software to buy or install, no licenses to manage and no operating system to maintain - just cameras, a network connection and a browser.

  • Central management of every site, camera and user from one web dashboard
  • User permissions and activity tracking for who viewed or exported what
  • Live and recorded footage from any device, anywhere
  • Add or remove cameras and change storage as you grow
  • Customizable retention policies, pay only for what you use
  • Works with a wide range of IP cameras

Is cloud video right for you?

You have more than one location
See every site in one place instead of logging into separate recorders.
You don't have on-site IT
No recorder to patch, no drives to replace.
You worry about losing footage
Video stored off site survives theft, fire or a smashed recorder.
You want predictable costs
Lower upfront investment with a monthly plan.

Upgrading an old camera system

Grainy analog or HD-TVI cameras, a failing DVR, or footage you can't use when something happens? We upgrade in phases so you don't have to replace everything at once.

  • Reuse existing coax cabling where it makes sense
  • Replace the worst cameras first, then expand
  • Move recording to a modern NVR or the cloud
  • Keep cameras recording during the cutover

Security camera FAQ

How much does a commercial security camera system cost?

Cost depends mainly on the number of cameras, camera types and resolution, how long footage must be kept, cabling distances and mounting heights, and whether recording is on-premise (higher upfront cost) or cloud (lower upfront cost plus a monthly subscription). ATEL provides a free site assessment and a written, itemized quote.

Should I choose cloud or on-premise video surveillance?

On-premise systems record to an NVR on site and suit single locations with high camera counts or limited internet bandwidth. Cloud systems record off site and are managed from a browser dashboard. Hybrid systems record locally and back up to the cloud. ATEL recommends the right option after reviewing your sites and bandwidth.

How long is security camera footage stored?

Retention is set by your storage or cloud plan. Many businesses keep 30 to 90 days, and some industries, insurers or legal requirements call for longer. ATEL sizes storage to the retention period you need.

Can I watch my security cameras from my phone?

Yes. ATEL's systems support live and recorded viewing on iOS and Android apps and in a web browser, with motion and analytics alerts sent to your phone.

Do security cameras work at night?

Yes. Cameras with infrared (IR) illumination and low-light sensors record clear images in darkness. ATEL selects cameras for each location's lighting, including parking lots and building perimeters.

Can ATEL upgrade my existing analog or HD-TVI camera system?

Yes. ATEL evaluates existing cameras, recorders and cabling and can upgrade in phases, reusing existing coax cabling where it makes sense, so you can move to modern IP cameras without replacing everything at once.

Can business security cameras record audio in California?

California law generally requires the consent of all parties to record confidential conversations, so most business camera systems record video only. California also prohibits video recording in employee restrooms, locker rooms and changing rooms. ATEL designs systems with these rules in mind; consult your attorney for your specific situation.

Can security cameras work with access control and alarms?

Yes. ATEL integrates video with access control, intercoms and intrusion alarms so door events and alarms can be matched to video and reviewed from one place.
