NEC On-Premise End of Life Schedule
Over the last few years, there has been a shift away from on-premises communications platforms to cloud-based solutions due to their adaptability to meet the drastically changing needs of both customers and employees. Due to this change in the marketplace, along with NEC's desire to offer our customers solutions to best meet their business communications requirements, NEC has come up with excellent Cloud solutions for the customer base to transition to has time move on. Along with that ATEL Technologies, Inc. has many other cloud and premise based options available also.
NEC is announcing the End of New System Sales and End of Add-On Sales for our UNIVERGE SV9100, UNIVERGE SV9500, UNIVERGE 3C, and SL2100 on-premises communications platforms and associated on-premises applications effective December 31, 2024.
Here are some important dates from NEC to keep in mind:
- 12/31/2024: End of New System Sales - The product cannot be ordered for new system sales.
- 3/31/2025: End of Shipment - Latest target date for shipment of any purchase orders received by end of 2024. Note: if you have any plans of expansion want to add capacity to your phone system we should plan ahead and order everything you need for the future.
- 3/31/2026: End of Support- End of technical assistance. Note: ATEL Technologies, Inc.'s trained certified technicians will be able to support even though NEC is no longer there. We also have a warehouse full of parts so we can support you into the future even though NEC will no longer be there to help us.
Q&As:
- I don't have the budget to replace our phone system. Can you maintain my phone system?
No problem. ATEL Technologies, Inc. will be able to maintain your current system. We have a large inventory of critical items that will be valuable when replacement parts are needed.
- What if I want to add new licenses?
We can't buy any new licenses after 12/31/2024. We should discuss your immediate and future needs NOW to not cause any business interruptions.
- Should I upgrade my NEC hardware or software this year?
It might not make a lot of sense for you to invest in NEC software licenses for future growth and to bring your system current so it needs nothing in the future and can support your company for the unforeseeable future ATEL Technologies, Inc. will perform an assessment on your account and advise on best path forward.
- When do I need to switch to
another phone system?
Ideally by end of 2024. We are ready to come in and provide consulting on new technologies to make your teams more efficient and enhance customer service and provide consistent service for mission-critical operations. For your peace of mind please keep in mind our service team is able maintain your current system for many years to come but we can't guarantee replacement parts beyond 2024. Note: Without new licenses in your system for expansion, we will not be able to make any additions to your system so we need to buy the licenses in advance the big thing to remember without that we will not be able to make any additions, if they will be needed.
- What are my options?
- Do nothing plan - Ok for 2024 and risky thereafter. Receive a quote from ATEL Technologies, Inc. and be able to plan for future needs.
- Move to another on-premise base system: ATEL Technologies, Inc. has been successfully maintaining other on-premise phone systems for decades so we will provide you with options.
- Move to a cloud solution: ATEL Technologies, Inc. understand your current infrastructure very well and our Telco team can provide 3 options for you to consider with our recommendations.
