Senior Telecommunications Technician

Location Information:
The position is onsite at Atel's corporate office: 8447 Miramar Mall, San Diego CA 92121.
What will you do?
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to phone systems, including VoIP and traditional PBX systems, access control and security camera systems. This includes customer telephone management, voicemail setup, call flow design, equipment testing, and user training.
- Support, service and administer third-party applications.
- Execute customer telephone adds, deletes, moves, and changes.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure efficient operation of the organization's systems.
- Installation of new systems, rebuilding existing systems, configuration of hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with customer standards.
- Manage NEC backup phone systems, elevator phones, and emergency phones.
- Travel to client sites to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve Telecommunications and Data/IT equipment issues as well as equipment maintenance.
How will you get here?
Education:
- IT or technical degree preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT/Tech Support and troubleshooting, with a focus on phone systems preferably.
- Strong knowledge VoIP, PBX systems, voice analog, digital technologies, and SIP trunking. NEC Telephony background is preferrable.
- Familiarity with telephone system installations and configurations.
- Proficiency in managing customer telephony adds, deletes, moves, and changes.
- Experience with voicemail setup and management.
- Ability to design and implement contact center call flows.
- Knowledge of telecom equipment testing and troubleshooting.
- Excellent understanding of system operational procedures and user training.
- Skilled in understanding and documenting network infrastructure.
- Utilizes test equipment and tools (both manual & powered) to perform machine diagnosis, adjustments, and repairs.
Working Conditions:
- Job is usually performed in indoor & outdoor environments under various environmental conditions.
- The ability to accept periodic assignments that involve travel away from the immediate head office area, based on client needs, business needs and project scope.
- General hours of Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm. But ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is preferred.
- Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds. Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
- Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & rooftops utilizing proper fall protection.
Compensation and Benefits:
$28/hour or more depending on experience.
