A Moment with Denise...

Hosted vs. Premise Based Systems which is better and the answer may surprise you

Denise

When talking to my customers, I've spent a lot of time explaining the differences in Hosted and Premise Based Phone Systems. Most people are under the impression that Hosted is cheaper, which if you have a high volume of long distance calls can be the case. What it boils down to is it's the difference between owning and renting, depending on your carrier. When you're hosting, you never actually own the system product. You pay monthly fees for the duration of using the product. However, if you were to do the traditional premise based platform, you can finance it but you end up actually owning the system. This proves to be a lot more cost effective because the expense on monthly recurring phone systems can get expensive, especially with larger systems. Primarily, premise based systems have the same functionality as hosting based systems and have a lot more upsides. It's entirely based on the business and how they intend to use their system. The important thing to remember is here at ATEL, we take the time to customize and personalize each customers system and experience so you're never left wondering if you made the right choice for your phone system.

What does a collaborative work environment really look like?

One thing that I'm seeing is businesses are moving towards collaborative environments which means that phones systems are becoming an essential productivity tool. With these phone systems you're able to easily identify other coworkers within your office as to what they're doing and where to locate them without having to leave your desk to go hunting for them. This allows you to:

  • Identify coworkers availability
  • Offer better customer service and response times
  • Greater mobility with embedded voicemail/email notifications
  • Many other tools to make sure that you know if/when there's a break down in communication with your customers

This is especially vital for business owners that thrive on making sure they're capitalizing on every lead. I don't know about you, but I know that when I search for a company online and they don't pick up, I'm moving on to the next business. With the way the market is currently, you need to make sure that you're offering better customer service than your competition to make sure you're maximizing every opportunity.

Boost productivity by using call accounting

As business owners, one of the most powerful tools that you can implement is using call tracking to see where you're spending your marketing dollars. Traditionally what business owners have done is set a budget for marketing and hope that they get a return on investment. However customers that have a PRI, they can have special numbers for their marketing dollars. This allows you track on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis how many phone calls you're getting from you marketing efforts and how much revenue each campaign is contributing and, in some cases, taking away from your business.
